The tourism industry is one of the powerful forces that can help to combat the poaching issues in Africa. Recently, the United Nations World Tourism Organization called the tour operators and governments in Africa to discuss about the ongoing poaching crisis and economic growth. It is also believed that this issue can create a major impact on the tourism sector of the country.

Effective Steps by the United Nations World Tourism Organization 


In response to this problem, the organization released a report “Towards Measuring the Economic Value of Wildlife Watching Tourism in Africa” which focuses on creating awareness of wildlife and informing the tourism authorities to coordinate of anti-pouching activities. A recent survey was taken from 48 tourism authorities and 145 Africa based tour operators. From the results, it is estimated to know that wildlife watching tours consists of six people at a cost of $433 per day.

Many of the tourists are interested to visit South Africa to check out the exotic wildlife animals like African Elephants, leopards, lions, rhinoceros, Cape Buffalos and much more. At present, the above animals have started to face more risk due to poaching issues.

Survey Results of Poaching Issue


In a research, the reports also revealed that 90% of people have confirmed that poaching has been the major problem in their countries. While 80% said that it seriously affects their wildlife tourism. The main problem is poaching decreases wildlife population and creates a bad tourism experience for the people. With this, the Government faces a great financial burden in their countries.

One of the luxury tour company owner confirmed that wildlife tourism has been affected because of this poaching issue. You can’t simply say people about the issue when they are in a tour mood. It is the decision that has to be taken by the tourism organization or Government on poaching issue.

If this poaching issue continues, then the country will face a tremendous loss and trouble in the future. Further, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has implemented various effective steps to conclude this problem.
